Who They Are
We have been retained by a $50m division of a large, privately held company based out of the Upper Midwest. They are looking for a General Manager for their fenestration division who will oversee 2 plants. The General Manager serves as the leader of the business unit and is responsible for driving revenue growth, operational performance, and overall business results. This position oversees sales strategy, sales operations, manufacturing, engineering, and business processes to ensure alignment with company objectives, customer expectations, and profitability targets. This role is critical in connecting strategy with execution, ensuring the organization’s sales, operational, and manufacturing capabilities work together effectively to support sustainable growth and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do
  • Establish revenue targets, forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics, and lead the organization in achieving those goals
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic sales plans aligned with overall company objectives
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing sales and management teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Align go-to-market strategies with operational capabilities, capacity, and customer service expectations
  • Support product development initiatives and customer experience improvements
  • Oversee sales operations, including forecasting, pricing strategy, reporting, and process discipline.
  • Implement systems, tools, and processes that improve operational productivity, efficiency, and scalability
  • Analyze operational performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, cost, delivery, and service
  • Ensure sales processes are aligned with broader business operations, manufacturing requirements, and financial goals
  • Develop business cases and budgets for operational investments, resources, and improvement initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of operational excellence

What You’ll Need
• Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, operations, engineering, or a related field required; MBA preferred
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in sales, operations, manufacturing, or a combination thereof, preferably within the millwork, fenestration, or building products industry
• Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and align sales, operations, manufacturing, engineering, and finance around shared business objectives
• Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and business judgment
• Exceptional leadership, people development, coaching, and team-building skills
• Strong analytical capability with a data-driven approach to decision-making and performance management
• Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management skills
• Ability to lead through change, manage competing priorities, and drive transformation across the organization
• Ability to travel up to 25% as business needs require
