Who They Are
We have partnered with a highly regarded manufacturer of pressure-treated wood building products to identify a Plant Manager to add to their Kansas City-area team. Ideal candidates will have supervisory or management experience in the wood treating or lumber industry, strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and experience driving productivity and employee performance in a manufacturing environment. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee all production, distribution, warehousing, shipping, maintenance, safety, and employee relations activities at the plant level
  • Manage shift supervisors and hourly production staff, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, cost control, quality, OSHA/EPA compliance, and maintaining a safe work environment

What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) preferred with 5 years’ related supervisory/management experience and/or training in the wood treating or lumber industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret industry-specific numerical data.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should become proficient in use of company database system with production reporting and data entry requirements, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook software applications.
  • Forklift certification and experience are preferred.
