Who They Are
We are working with an industry leader in building materials that specializes in interior and exterior wood products to help them find an Operations Manager to oversee operations activities across five locations out west. The Regional Operations Manager oversees all aspects of warehouse distribution within their region, including team leadership, process development, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. This role collaborates closely with internal teams—such as Sales, Operations, Business Development, Procurement, and Integrated Business Planning—as well as external partners to align operational objectives and priorities.
The Regional Operations Manager reports directly to the Regional Director and serves as a member of the region’s Leadership Team. This role also provides direct oversight of the Operations Managers within the region.
This position requires full-time, on-site presence at a regional branch and involves up to 30% travel.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee operations across multiple branches—including warehousing, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and facility maintenance—ensuring alignment with regional and corporate objectives.
  • Set clear expectations for branch leadership teams, monitor performance against KPIs, and implement strategies to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Regional Director to develop and manage regional budgets; regularly monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to ensure alignment with business targets.
  • Ensure all branches maintain compliance with local, state/provincial, and federal regulations; lead safety programs, training, and audits to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Lead workforce planning, onboarding, and performance management for Operations Managers; identify and develop high-potential talent for leadership roles and future growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales, Procurement, and Operations Excellence teams to align operational capabilities with customer needs, support new product introductions, and deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and third-party vendors; evaluate service performance and negotiate agreements to ensure operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Champion Lean/Kaizen projects across the region, standardize best practices, and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee regional inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical audits; ensure proper maintenance of facilities, equipment, and assets to support operational reliability.
  • Support the professional development of Operations Managers by providing coaching, mentorship, and structured growth opportunities; foster a culture of continuous learning and leadership readiness across the region.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive work environment that reflects company values, drives employee engagement, and fosters collaboration across branches.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field; alternatively, 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution will be considered.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-site operations with responsibility for large teams, budgets, and performance outcomes across multiple locations.
  • Deep expertise in warehousing, logistics, transportation, and end-to-end supply chain management, with the ability to develop and implement regional strategies that drive efficiency and scalability.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, foster collaboration, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence and change management, including process optimization, performance improvement, and adoption of best practices across regions.
  • Extensive experience in talent management, including workforce planning, leadership development, succession planning, and managing complex employee relations issues.
  • Proficiency in LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives, with the ability to lead large-scale projects and prioritize competing demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with SAP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including the ability to interpret P&L statements, develop budgets, and analyze key performance metrics such as inventory, labor costs, and operational efficiency.
  • Industry knowledge of millwork and/or Metrie products and services is an asset.
